Technical director Dave Williams said the Scarborough printer had been working on the development with MAN Roland for a substantial amount of time.
He would not be drawn on the technical modifications that had to be made to the press, but said they would not add an excessive cost burden.
When were doing this sort of work we have to cost in a certain amount of additional preparation work, he added, but having said that its not too excessive, its completely manageable.
MAN Roland GB web director Norman Revill paid tribute to Pindars foresight in ordering the second 48pp Lithoman in late 2001 just when the market was entering a recession.
Their investment programme has been absolutely spot on, he said. They have got to a stage where they are almost the leader of the pack in innovation in new technology.
If you look at the magazine and catalogue market theres overcapacity and nobody is making any money, whereas this creates real added value for their whole operation.
Pindar is also offering more multi-fold and trimming options on the Lithoman.
The company is going into full production with its Muller Martini Normbinder in its new 10,000m2 finishing facility.
And Williams hinted that it could also soon announce investment in saddlestitching facilities.
