Pharma managing director Tony Aspey said the 13,000cph machine could “talk to” the firm’s miniature trimming machine, enabling it to produce books as small as 50x50mm.
He also praised the Osako’s “sturdy and robust” build, adding that the ability of MAN Roland to provide back-up service was “nine-tenths of the argument”.
Ian Pollard, MAN Roland GB’s sales manager for finishing equipment, said the six-station Osako, which has a cover folder feeder and three-knife trimmer, offered a “nice level of automation”, which had found it a “bit of a niche”.
MAN Roland took on the 378 and its 12,000cph sister, the 368, at the end of last year. Its Mitcham showroom houses a 368, while at Ipex it showed a 378 that ended up in France. Pharma visited ABI Graphique, south of Paris, to see the machine in action after being impressed by its performance at Ipex.
