The association is looking for printers for a vast range of products, including official media guides, programmes, brochures, tickets, photo ID cards, car park hangers, wristbands and vouchers.
Tenders have been put out in the past week, a shortlist will be drawn up in October and final decisions on suppliers will be made during November.
PGA head of procurement Michael Whitfield said: “We’ve got loads of events, from London to China, and lots of print that we use. Over the years we have used all sorts of different people, so some of this is just about letting the market know a bit more about all the areas we cover and trying to consolidate.”
Whitfield was hired in September 2015 and is the first to lead the PGA’s dedicated procurement department.
“So I’ve come in and started to look at various categories of importance, areas of high spend. The role really is to centralise a little bit more what we do.
“We have now highlighted the areas we want provided for and have sent them out to a wide range of suppliers to come back to us with their thoughts. You have certain companies who will manage the whole thing, something of a one-stop-shop approach, and there are other areas where the marketing and branding could be very important so we would be more involved.”
PGA aren’t necessarily only taking quotes from UK suppliers but are happy to speak to those from abroad.
Whitfield said that even though a lot of the PGA’s content is becoming more digitally-based, the printed element still needs to be “of the highest quality”.
The PGA European Tour comprises the European Tour, the European Seniors Tour and the Challenge Tour. Its headquarters are in Virginia Water, Surrey.
