The Corby firm’s Screen Truepress Jet L350UV+ was installed in early July as additional digital capacity and to give PeterLynn the flexibility of offering both toner and inkjet technology.
According to managing director James Lindsay, the 25-staff firm had been looking to expand its battery of digital presses for a while, but when the pandemic hit and some of its customers switched from supplying wholesale products to retail, meaning they required more consumer style labels, it fast tracked the investment.
Following a review of the market, the firm opted for Screen machine.
“We chose the Screen inkjet press because we were impressed by the vibrancy of colour that can be achieved, as well as the fast print speeds of 60m/min,” said Lindsay.
The Truepress can handle reels up to 350mm wide, offers 600dpi single-pass printing and can be configured with up to six colours: CMYK plus combinations of white, blue or orange.
PeterLynn sales and marketing manager Victoria Waine said the £3.5m-turnover firm felt that when it was looking at adding capacity then inkjet was the right technology as it complemented its existing Xeikon toner offering.
“Each has their own benefits and limitations and it means we now have the right press for each application, and the benefits inkjet in particular brings to us are the super bright colours, which give the vivid results that a lot of people are looking for right now.
“I really feel that the Screen L350UV+ will open up exciting new opportunities for us within a number of key sectors and will allow us to win longer print runs for digital.”
The Screen machine joins a 2017 installed Xeikon CX3, Mark Andy flexo presses and various finishing systems including a Digicon label embellishment line.
