Coxon, who will take up his position from January 2013, joins eight existing board members including the BPIF's Kathy Woodward, Kay Smith, Dale Wallis and Michael Gardner and print industry leaders Tony Garnish of AGI Shorewood, Precision Printing's Gary Peeling, Gerald White from Berforts Group and Northend Creative Print Solutions' Nigel Stubley.
Coxon will sit on the board for a minimum of two years and a maximum of four.
Taking over the South Wales magazine printer in 2010 through a management buyout with operations director Karl Gater, Coxon led the £13m company to scoop the BPIF Company of the Year award at this year’s Excellence Awards.
Coxon said the opportunity to join the board was a privilege. He added: "Our award-winning work at Pensord brings us face to face with many of the issues confronting the printing industry today, and I hope to add further value to the wealth of experience which already sits around the BPIF board table to help safeguard the future interests of printers in the UK."
Welcoming Coxon to the board, BPIF chief executive Kathy Woodward said: "It is fantastic to have such a multitude of experience and diversity of skills on the board. I feel the appointment of Darren will help add to this and ensure the BPIF Board’s effectiveness this year."
