The binding coil manufacturer and finishing equipment supplier completed its first sale of JBI’s flagship puncher, the 610mm-wide EX-610, to Yorkshire commercial printer UYR in May.
The distribution deal, itself inked in January and then launched by PDC in February, allows the firm access to the full range of JBI’s equipment.
Alex Styles, business development manager at PDC, told Printweek the deal had bolstered the company’s portfolio – and it could now target commercial printers.
“We have a range of desktop binders,” he said, “but what the partnership does is take our offering to the next level.”
He added that PDC’s priority was now to get the JBI name out in the market: “There has been a bit of a handover: the brand itself needs to reestablish itself in the UK.
“There’s a lot of opportunity out there, with older equipment in use in the field, so it’s going to open up a few doors for us.”
UYR first became a customer of PDC in 2021, with a smaller coil binder purchase intended to bring that work in-house.
It has since expanded its coil-binding operation, with investment in the 100,000sph EX-610 required to keep up with demand.
