Shine joined Paragon in 2016 from Accenture and his elevation follows former CEO Patrick Crean, Paragon’s principal shareholder, deciding to take on the role of executive chairman.
In his three and a half years as its group chief operating officer, Shine has led the creation of its three business divisions and new management structures and driven the company’s operational performance as well as its major growth.
This year, the business expects to deliver revenues of more than €1.2bn (£1bn) across the three divisions: Paragon Customer Communications, Paragon ID and Paragon Graphic Services.
“Sean and his leadership team will continue to focus on the delivery of organic revenue growth allied to additional expansion through acquisitions, while also driving operational profit through to the bottom line earnings performance of Paragon,” the company said.
Shine, who was described by one colleague as "a good guy", added: “During 2019 we continued to build strength and depth in each of our three businesses and delivered outstanding growth. We are now strong market leaders across these three businesses and are ready to grow to the next level alongside our clients.”
Crean said: “Sean will continue with our group’s ambitious and entrepreneurial style of leadership, whilst creating his own longer-term plans for Paragon.”
John Rogers, currently head of corporate development at Paragon, has also been promoted, to executive director, and will continue to lead the group’s M&A activity.
Rogers is the chairperson of Paragon ID SA, a quoted company on the Euronext Paris. His previous roles include senior executive at Nasdaq-listed Identiv, chief executive of Sokymat Group (Assa Abloy) and a number of senior roles at Delphi Automotive.
“John is a welcome addition to the executive board of directors, his drive and knowledge of the business is a major asset to the Paragon Group,” said Crean.
Paragon’s Service Graphics business was responsible for the group’s most recent acquisitions, confirming its purchases of wide-format specialists Octink and Image Factory last month.
