PaperSpecs said specifiers need to compare papers, to find the one best suited to their client.

The US-based firm's founder, Sabine Lenz, said: "Some services compare papers on only one feature, while others compare only limited paper lines.

"This is not good enough.  We want members to compare apples with apples to determine which paper criteria are important."

She added that users can check prices and features such as colour and sheet size for almost any print job.
