The plug-in, which is available for both Windows and Macintosh operating systems, enables users to design, set up and run VDP projects directly from InDesign CS4, with no need to convert to Pageflex format.
Anna Chagnon, president and chief executive of Bitstream, said: "Pageflex Studio ID offers Adobe InDesign users a wonderful opportunity to begin working with Pageflex while staying in the InDesign creative environment that they are familiar with."
The software, which produces database-driven personalisation of graphically rich documents, includes an intuitive business rule editor as well as support for Adobe ExtendScript.
Pageflex Studio ID can also be used to prepare variable data templates and projects for use in the developer's web-to-print software Pageflex Storefront.
The VDP is available now from Pageflex and its resellers priced at $695 (about £430), including output drivers for PostScript, PDF, and PPML, as well as one year of support and access to online Pageflex user forums.
