Sheffield printer ProCo has made Jeremy Welch account manager and Nicola Renton sales manager of direct-marketing services. Welch used to work for McCann Erickson and Renton joined from Halcyon Business Solutions. ProCo has also won a standing ovation monthly award from <i>Sheffield Telegraph</i> for good service.

UV kit supplier GEW has teamed up with Leicester College and the National Printing Skills Centre. GEW is adding UV-curing to the college's Webflex flexo printing press and will give presentations at the government's centre for vocational excellence, according to Leicester College liaison officer Damian Breen and GEW sales manager Chris Nuttall. 

Simlex Group has bought a B2 five-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 74 for its base at Four Ashes, Wolverhampton. It replaced a B1 Mitsubishi and the firm has also ordered a two-colour Printmaster 74, a Stahlfolder with palletised feed and ImageControl spectrophotometry for Speedmaster presses.

Trader Media Print Group has been presented with a health and safety award in the boardroom of Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium. BSI's Andy Nichol presented the firm's group managing director Alan Turner with the ISO 18001 accreditation.

The cards, on 300gsm satin board are printed on the firm's six-colour KBA Rapida 105. The 25 cards in the range cost 55 per hundred, which includes envelopes and VAT. Soloprint/TSG Creative Solutions has bought a six-user TharsternSQL MIS for its user-friendliness and value for money. It went into the Cambridgeshire base with a shop floor data-capture module, said managing director Stuart Fairweather.

Former head of Diemer and Reynolds Ron Norbury has died aged 83. Norbury, who retired in 1987 when Robert Maxwell's British Printing Company bought his firm, died peacefully in St John's Hospice. He leaves a son and two daughters.
