The interweb behemoth is a big user of direct marketing, a sweet irony not lost on those printco bosses who are in receipt of its regular missives.
For its latest Adwords promo Google opted for a creative, attention-grabbing option of a slimline box (who can resist opening a box?) printed with a stylised Google home page and the search term ‘winter gear’. Inside is a branded Google bobble hat, adorned with a printed tag urging the recipient to “make sure you keep up to date with the seasons”.
Given recent weather conditions perhaps a more apt accoutrement would have been a pair of anglers’ waders, but Overmatter is grateful to Google and its massive marketing budget, because Overmatter is now in possession of this picture of Press On’s Andy Wilson wearing his new headgear.
Cute eh? We’re told he wore it all day and is now considering donning it for all business meetings.
