Zerographic received a recent visit from Olympic canoe slalom gold medallist Joe Clarke MBE, who inspired the company’s team members with his story.

The Stafford-headquartered kit reseller and Xerox Global Platinum Premium Partner has a close relationship with the athlete, who it sponsors.

The business said that it was proud to support athletes who represent the country internationally and to encourage local talent. It said Clarke's visit served as a reminder of the positive impacts that business sponsorship could have on community development and sports.

Clarke, who won a gold medal at the Rio 2016 Olympics and has been in preparation for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics, was warmly welcomed by the Zerographic team.

During his visit last month, he discussed his journey from humble origins to becoming an Olympic champion. His story consisted of early mornings, intense training sessions, and consistent support from his sponsors.

His motivational speech shed light on the dedication required to succeed at the highest levels of competition.

He highlighted the value of teamwork in all areas of life, not only in sports, and drew comparisons between his own experiences and Zerographic's cooperative culture. His ultimate message was that achievement is the result of perseverance, commitment, and a strong sense of community.

Clarke held an energetic Q&A session with the company’s staff after his speech. Questions included everything from his training schedule and mental preparedness to his outlook on the future of British canoeing.

He then thanked Zerographic for its ongoing support, emphasising how important its sponsorship was to his Olympic adventure.

Zerographic CEO Kevin Corbett told Printweek: “Joe came and explained how much he had to commit and dedicate himself to the sport where he is now obviously an Olympic champion.

“It was good from a staff point of view because it's very motivational and inspiring, and it just goes to show that, ultimately, hard work is the ticket to success.”

Following his Q&A, BBC Stoke interviewed Clarke regarding his feelings about the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Zerographic employs 70 staff, with around 26 based at its headquarters and the remainder located across the UK.
