Oc suffers 61m pre-tax loss despite growth in colour digital print

Oc made a pre-tax loss of 74m euro ( 61m) during the six months to 31 May 2010 as profitability was hit by integration costs totalling 83m euro in the wake of the group's acquisition by Canon.

Excluding exceptional costs relating to the integration with Canon, Océ made a €9m pre-tax profit on revenues that were down 3.3% to €1.3bn.

During a six-month period where the Dutch manufacturer launched its Arizona 550 GT flatbed, revenues within its wide-format division decreased slightly to €343m.

Colour revenues in wide-format increased by 2% to 47%. Growth in production cutsheet and continuous-feed colour helped curtail a decline in sales in the company's production print division (Digital Document Solutions).

Revenues within this division dropped 3.9% to €718m, with the manufacturer citing the market deterioration within its office and black & white continuous feed products.

With the company's acquisition by digital manufacturer Canon ongoing, Océ said priorities for the rest of the year continued to be the cross-selling of products.
