The installation, in conjunction with distributor Westec, has allowed the St Ives-based company to run print jobs via its Mac system, which is also linked to CAD accounting software, which allows the operator to monitor what work is being produced for the firm’s clients and to invoice them accordingly.
The Océ TCS500 has eliminated the need to send each print job to the printer individually by managing the print queue automatically, which is claimed to have made the printing process a more streamlined procedure.
The machine can produce just under 60 colour A0 prints per hour and outputs the the 200-plus A0 colour prints and plots that PBWC requires on a daily basis.
PBWC director Cedric Wynter told printweek.com the set-up has made the printing process “massively more efficient. It’s at least 10 times quicker than what we had before”.
He added: “Our old system was so slow we would have to print off one master document and then run downstairs to photocopy extra sheets because using it for any more than one item at a time was not a cost effective option.”
Océ UK director of wide-format printing systems Duncan Smith said: “We rose to the challenge of converting our traditionally PC-based interface so it could be used with a Mac and we are delighted that PBWC is now reaping the rewards through the use of the Océ TCS500.”
Poynton Bradbury Wynter Cole employs 25 staff and serves a range of industries including recreation, education, residential and commercial sectors.
