Wrapping has now been automated at NSL following the purchase of an Orion LP500 semi-automatic stretchwrapping machine.
The Newcastle-upon-Tyne company was previously wrapping manually, but said that rising material costs and concerns over the quality and consistency of the wrapping process led them to a review.
NSL’s machine is operational around the clock, securing and protecting around 100 loads each day.
David Moorhead, operations director at NSL, said: “Continuing to wrap manually just wasn’t an option due to the high consumable costs and variable quality.
“We needed a machine that was versatile and could guarantee consistent wrapping regardless of the height and shape of each load. The savings for us have been substantial – five figures in total – in terms of reduced consumable use and staff time.”
NSL employs around 100 staff, specialising mainly in outdoor advertising, point of sale and 3D design.
