Normyle has been appointed sales director for the print management and print group's direct mail set-up, and will lead teams in Leeds and Altrincham.
"I join at a time when the company is gearing up for significant growth," he said.
He joins Communisis after two years as sales director at envelope specialist Encore Direct.
Normyle had been sales director at Waddington Chorleys (now Communisis Chorleys) and Waddington Howitt, where he subsequently joined the management buy-out in 2000. He left Howitt in 2003 over differences about the firm's direction.
Communisis' executive director Denise Moran said: "His wealth of experience, passion for the business and technical knowledge makes him a major player to have in the group".
In April Communisis signed a multi-million-pound two-year extension to its print management contract with Sainsbury's to supply direct mail, point-of-sale material and leaflets.
Communisis employs more than 2,500 staff on 38 sites.
