Newnorth, which operates both litho and digital equipment, will use the new machine to image Agfa Azura TS plates for its offset presses that include a 10-colour Heidelberg SM 102.
The 8pp PlateRite machine can image up to 43 plates an hour and features the ability to combine high-precision halftone dots with a 4,000 dpi output.
According to Mike Seamarks, director of Newnorth Print, the company analysed several suppliers before settling on the Screen machine.
"We evaluated the power consumption of several leading CTP brands and Screen’s latest model came out the best by far," he added.
Screen's 8900HD features a raft of features that have helped cut power consumption per plate by up to 9% and the machine's standby consumption by 85%.
These elements tie in with Newnorth's green approach, which includes maintaining its FSC and PEFC accreditations as well as operating a certified ISO 14001: 2004 environmental management system.
Bui Burke, Screen UK sales manager added: "Like Newnorth, Screen puts environmental issues at the top of its agenda and endeavours to significantly reduce the environmental impact of its products.
"When designing the new PlateRite 8900 HD range we not only improved energy efficiency but also resource efficiency, recyclability, and safety."
