The deadline for submitting entries to the National Original Print Exhibition is 30 June, with selected works on show from 16-28 September at the Bankside Gallery, next to the Tate Modern on London’s South Bank.
Prizes will include a £1,000 Arts Club Charitable Trust Award and John Purcell Paper Award, with all forms of printmaking, apart from reproduction prints, accepted.
All works selected for exhibition must be for sale. Artists will be allowed to submit up to six artworks and a maximum of three will be selected from any one artist.
"As one of the major print exhibitions in the calendar we are hoping to attract a broad range of artists, from students through to professionals," said Michael Barratt, current president of the Society of Painter-Printmakers.
"The National Original Print Exhibition is important as it is crucial to have a show which singles out and promotes printmaking as a distinct art form. This is now the major remaining print exhibition in the UK.'
He added: "The backing of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers and the location at Bankside Gallery differentiate this from other print exhibitions."
The Bankside Gallery is currently hosting an RE Original Prints exhibition showcasing new works by "some of the country’s leading printmakers", including Peter Green, John Duffin and Nana Shiomi.
As part of the exhibition, which runs until 7 June, printmaking demonstrations will take place at the gallery every Saturday and Sunday, 1-4pm. Techniques covered here will include woodcut, photo etching, lino, relief prints and screen print.
