The German-language show, Digi:media, will run annually from 2011, form a major part of Drupa in 2012, and continue to run as an independent show from 2013 onwards.
The first show will be held from 7-9 April 2011 at the Messe Düsseldorf, under the banner of Content Meets Technology Meets Business.
Show director Manuel Mataré said: "Information technology – and digital printing technology following in its footsteps – has brought about completely new products and applications thereby tapping into new target groups for print communication."
According to Mataré, the exhibition will focus on digital print and commercial publishing sectors, and feature "all segments of the value chain".
The Digi:media event will feature nine themed areas that include digital printing presses, digital printing for the packaging market, post-press, fulfilment, workflow, networks and consumables.
Mataré added: "Digital printing unites digital communication, online marketing and CRM in one. This is the market we wish to address with Digi:media, providing a powerful exhibition platform."
