Scottish Media Group (SMG) has signed a deal with Muller Martini for newsroom equipment to handle increased capacity when it relocates to its
38m purpose-built Glasgow premises in 2002.
The order includes two Newsgrip single gripper conveyors, a FlexiRoll storage system, two Newsliner-A high-speed inserting systems, a Promo-feeder for small inserts, a PrintStack bundling system, the UKs first NewsPal palletiser and an Exacto trimming line.
The main feature of the configuration is to allow the pressroom and mailroom to operate independently.
Scottish Media Publishing chief executive Desmond Hudson said the system would give the group the flexibility to cope with changing demands and to increase both pagination and colour capacity.
