In line with other paper makers that have announced price rises in recent weeks, the company cited increases in input costs.
Mondi Group’s €1.5bn (£1.3bn) turnover Uncoated Fine Paper business unit has six operating sites in Austria, Slovakia, Russia, and South Africa. It claims a market-leading position in the European market (including Russia) for that type of paper.
The price increases, of between 8%-15%, apply to grades produced in Austria and Slovakia and will be effective from 5 July.
Johannes Klumpp, director of marketing and sales at the Uncoated Fine Paper business, said: “We recognise these price adjustments come at a time where our industry emerges from a challenging period. The decision reflects increased input costs and is necessary to continue offering our customers the outstanding portfolio, quality and service they rely on us for.”
Mondi said the increase would apply across the “majority” of the grades made at those specific sites.
Mondi Group had overall sales of more than €6.8bn last year. Its other business units are corrugated packaging, flexible packaging and engineered materials
