The DP 8700 press (13 x 40) can produce quality comparable to offset printing like its predecessor, the DP 60 Pro. The differentiators are: photo quality print due to FM screening and a feeder which can do auto-formatting based on JDF. Plus the press renders high-end subsrate profiles at resolutions of 3600 dpi.
The cost of Meteor DP 8700 XL is Euro 180,000. The Meteor series is represented in Germany by Igepa and the company is proposing a cost module with no click charge.
The press which has the ability to print up to size XL (1020 mm) is being shipped to Bio Card in India. Bio Card is a software technology provider with clients in India, Africa and Middle East. Their core business is software solutions.
To-date India has 30 MGI installations. This includes the earlier versions of the digital press DP40 and DP60.
