Metallic London maps celebrate memorable year for the capital

The limited edition screen prints are available in gold, silver and bronze in a nod towards London's sporting summer.

Design agency Bold & Noble teamed up with Celloglas to produce three new versions of its iconic London maps to celebrate a patriotic year for the capital. But buyers need to be quick: there are only 200 of each colour available at £120 each.

Cellofoil swatches were applied in CS matt gold, CS matt silver and CS brass to white 250gsm 70x50cm paper using a Johannisberg hot foil cylinder. A B2 brass die-cut was created to transfer the design to the page.

Bold & Noble’s Hannah Scales said: "We have offered the London maps in sheer slate and duck egg blue for a number of years and they have always been really popular.

"We wanted to run this special edition of the maps to try out a new method in foil blocking with such beautiful foil colours.

"They have been made to celebrate an exciting few years for Great Britain. We launched them around the time of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the silver design nicely commemorates that."

She added that the pieces were not launched specifically to mark the Olympics but it is up to individuals to determine what the metallic London maps mean to them.

Celloglas said: "The design really lends itself to foiling and the finished result is just stunning. This has been a successful opportunity to show how print finish techniques can bring a different feel to any design."
