Paul McCarthy joined the business earlier this month. He has spent 12 years in paper sales, most recently as publishing sales manager at Sappi Fine Paper Europe. Prior to joining the paper trade he worked in magazine production and was commercial production manager at Condé Nast.
McCarthy takes over from David Lucas, who has retired after more than 20 years at the group.
McCarthy described his new role as “a fantastic opportunity” and said he planned to raise the UK profile of the company and its range of printing papers, which includes coated and uncoated magazine paper, and newsprint. SCA brands include GraphoCote, GraphoInvent and GraphoNews.
The SEK115bn (£10.7bn) turnover SCA group plans to split into two listed companies next year: a SEK98.5bn hygiene division and a SEK17.3bn forest products division, including graphic papers.
