Martell warns of 'tough decisions' in first major interview as St Ives chief exec

The magazine printing sector is undergoing permanent structural change and more "tough decisions" lie ahead, the chief executive of St Ives has said.

Speaking in his first major interview in today's PrintWeek, Patrick Martell, who took the reins at the UK's largest commercial printer in April, warned that much of the advertising that has gone online would not return
to print.

He said that the structural change in the publishing market must be reflected among its suppliers and
that tough decisions ahead were "inevitable".

In the interview, Martell also reflects on the 29 years at the company that preceded his appointment as chief executive.
