The £1.2m press is expected to boost productivity by 25% at the Wellingborough, Northamptonshire-based company, replacing three machines that include two four-colour printers and a continuous stationery press.
Specified with pre-press interface workflow and Axis Control spectrophotometry, the six-colour perfector with coater will help Lonsdale increase its ability to process work on both light and heavy stocks.
According to joint managing director Gary Kiernan, the main aim of the investment is to increase productivity, while also handling some of the company's continuous forms work.
Kiernan said: "Every person we talked to with an XL 75 was delighted with it and our tests showed that it would do what it claims on both lightweight and heavyweight stock.
"For us, it wasn’t just the makeready times but the speed of the press which was convincing. It’s a press which is highly productive and consistently productive. We like its versatility, too."
Kiernan and joint managing director Les Hornby bought 85-staff Lonsdale last year and operate it along with its sister company Express Printing from a 3,230sqm site.
"We’ve always been keen to get the technology in place, which will now help us to be both more efficient and more productive," he added.
