Lightning Source targets growth after move to new site

Lightning Source is targeting 20-30% year-on-year growth following the opening of its new 8175sqm site in Milton Keynes.

The UK arm of the US-based on-demand book printer has also installed a raft of new digital production machines including two HP Indigo 3050s and an Océ 6160 cut sheet printer.

The new 100-plus staff facility, which is a significant expansion on the company's previous 1,850sqm plant, is part of a move to up capacity at the on-demand book printer.

Lightning Source UK president David Taylor said: "We have grown our production space by a factor of five, there by allowing us to rapidly add new products and services, all of which are being developed in an increasingly close working relationship with our key customers."

The company has also promoted Dave Piper to the role of managing director of the company's UK operation.

"He played a central role in the relocation of the UK business to our new facility, a move which went seamlessly," said Taylor.

He added: "I am delighted to be able to announce his elevation into the full managing director role for the UK business."
