Last week (4 May), Leeds Crown Court issued an arrest warrant for Lee Mitchell, 38, of Broad Lane, Leeds, and Christopher Brooke, 28, of Swinnow Gardens, Swinnow, who were due to face prison sentences after police discovered their counterfeiting kit in a Leeds house last year.
At an earlier court appearance, both men admitted having the counterfeitng kit and fake notes in their possession, while Mitchell also admitted producing counterfeit notes with a face value of £310,000.
It is thought the equipment discovered included a Heidelberg press and a flatbed scanner, after a sting by the West Yorkshire Police in a joint operation with the Bank of England and the Serious and Organised Crime Agency.
Elsewhere, earlier this month, Kent Police uncovered a counterfeit bank note printing operation that they said was capable of producing "millions of pounds" of currency.
Detective inspector Eddie Fox said: "We believe that the equipment we are examining could be capable of producing millions of pounds worth of counterfeit currency."
