The machines were supplied by Friedheim International and installed at ACA’s Glasgow premises in September.

They were a “natural progression” for the print company, said ACA laserformes manager Billy Rowan, given the success of its existing Lasercomb machines.

ACA installed its first Lasercomb CLS 1700 SM in April 1998 and extended its range with a Lasercomb 1500 slab laser in July 2003.

The new machines have already led to a spike in business and efficiency. Rowan said: “We’ve increased our productivity by 18% in our first month, with the ability to produce forms, Digi-Setter speed strippers and Pro Pertinax counters on a same and next day delivery.

“We can now also cut steel on our CLS 2115 DC 020, which allows us to produce the metal bars for our blanking tools.

“As well as being a busy forme shop, we are also a print finishing company. The investment in the new Lasercomb kit means we can produce faster turnaround on dies for our in-house die-cutting machines and also supply Pro Pertinax counters, which cuts down machine set-up times dramatically.”
