Koehler Paper aims to offer a viable alternative to plastic with its recyclable NexPlus Seal Pure range, a heat-sealable paper that can be processed on standard packaging lines.
Koehler described the paper, which was developed in collaboration with the R&D team at Koehler Innovation & Technology, as having “extraordinary strength properties”.
The packs for Astrabio’s Iris Bio brand of dried pasta mark the first time it has been used for this type of product.
Mauro Moretti, flexible packaging paper sales manager at Koehler Italia, said the customer feedback had been positive.
“With Koehler NexPlus Seal Pure we offer a packaging paper with a significantly reduced carbon footprint in comparison to conventional plastic packaging, not to mention that it also boasts the significant benefit of being recyclable and conserving valuable resources as a result.”
Koehler has ambitions to replace plastic in packaging by using barrier paper wherever possible, tapping into the growing demand for more sustainable packaging options.
Its NexFlex product range includes standard coated and uncoated paper used in laminates for pouches, sachets, and other applications for food and non-food products.
The Koehler Group of companies is headquartered in Oberkirch and has five production sites in Germany.
