Kodak boosts packaging presence with NuPro assets buy

Kodak has bolstered its offering to the packaging industry after announcing the "acquisition of certain assets" from US-based NuPro Technologies.

Financial terms for the North Carolina company, which specialises in plate processing chemistries and solvent reclamation kit for flexographic printing, were not disclosed.

According to Kodak, the acquisition will complement its Graphic Communications Group's (GCG) portfolio of computer-to-plate products, printing plates, workflow and screening technologies for the packaging industry.

David Bradford, founder and president of NuPro, has joined Kodak as part of its packaging products group management team.

John Cross, general manager of packaging products for Prepress Solutions at Kodak's GCG, said: "The company brings a history of innovation that aligns so well with the philosophy at Kodak, where we continue to strive to make new products and solutions that enable our customers to do their work better, faster, and at a lower cost."

The North-American chemistry firm triumphed in the small business category for the US Environmental Protection Agency's Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award.

It was recognised for its development of an environmentally safe solvent and solvent recovery system for the flexographic printing sector.
