The new site, a 1,950sqm factory, is just a half-mile from Kingfisher’s current site, and has already seen the installation of its first machine, a Mark Andy Digital Pro 3 capable of 23.4m/min.
The upgrade, from an existing 880sqm site, will see the company double its factory size when operations commence at the start of December.
Andy Watts, sales director at Kingfisher, told Printweek that the move had been prompted by strong growth in sales, driven by multiple investments in new machinery.
Over the past two years, the company has seen two new Edale presses installed at the old site, a FL3 single-pass 430mm web press, and a 350mm FL1.
Watts said: “We are really excited by the move, the business has continued to go from strength to strength as a result of our ongoing investment, and we look forward to continuing to supply our much valued customers.”
He added that the move would help Kingfisher secure its long-term future ambitions, with a more modern facility.
The new site has LED lighting installed throughout, motion-activated corridor lighting, and a new gas heating system, helping to keep overheads lower.
Kingfisher employs 25 staff, turning over £3m annually.
