Kalamazoo moves to larger site as part of 2.5m investment

Security printer Kalamazoo Secure Solutions is to move to larger site following a 2.5m investment.

The Birmingham-based company will relocate to a 5,760sqm site in nearby Redditch from its current location in Northfield, south Birmingham.

Robert Whiteside, chief executive of parent company Adare, said that the company had outgrown its current site.

"The new site gives the company greater security internally and externally, as well as improving efficiency," he said.

The move has been complemented by the purchase of a Miyakoshi eight-colour Techno-E press, which Whiteside said will meet the growing demand for shorter runs in markets such as secure ticketing and visitor management systems.

Kalamazoo is also capitalising on the burgeoning African market for security print, having most recently completed the ballot for last month's elections in Malawi.

Whiteside said: "We have strong relationships in Africa and are spreading our presence. There is a huge opportunity for Kalamazoo in Africa and the business is doing extremely well.

"We are seeing growth not only in the election market, but also in other areas such as proof of delivery for shipping and ID cards."
