Two of the machines, mono imagePress 1135Ps, replaced older imagePress 1135s, and run at 135ppm. The third printer, a colour imagePress C800, will replace a Konica Minolta 7000. The devices are due to be delivered in July.
The company also runs an Océ 100ppm machine and a Konica Minolta 8000.
“We are one of Scotland's largest mailing houses, sometimes running 500,000 mailings a day. The new purchases represent a natural progression and have a good lifespan," said finance director Lindsay Johnston.
The family business has 22 staff and a turnover of £2.4m but brother and managing director Scott Johnston said the new purchase could add 35% to turnover in 12 to 18 months.
He said: “We have been with Canon for several years and the older 1135s have been absolutely bulletproof. It made sense to upgrade.
“We recently won a couple of new contracts with travel businesses and can use the equipment to do a wider variety of work such as full-colour personalised booklets.”
"We can now diversify into new formats such as six-page A5 landscape or six-page A4, while the booklet-making capability enables us to execute innovative personalised direct marketing concepts, such as completely tailored cruise itinerary booklets for high-end travel clients," he added.
