The Dublin-based B1 print house Brunswick Press installed the SPC alongside its 10-colour KBA Rapida 105N, which it purchased in October last year.
Managing director Peter Allman said its efficiency were realised immediately: "Where changeover time on the standard machine might be 20 minutes, it can be reduced to just one minute on the new press with the SPC system.
"In practice, it's more likely to be three or four minutes but, since 60% of our throughput is multi-sectional work for relatively short-run magazines or books, this kind of saving is significant."
KBA said the DriveTronic SPC cuts plate-changing time on a Rapida 105 irrespective of the number of printing units and their configuration.
Christian Knapp, KBA (UK) managing director, said: "Innovation is a central part of our ongoing mission, and that includes green technology, wider formats, in-line coating and so on.
"We do not introduce these innovations to our customers unless we are certain they deliver what they promise."
He added: "I could not endorse the SPC system until I had sound personal evidence of its effectiveness; the experience at Brunswick Press is precisely that."
