Interflex Group, which has sites in Scotland and Sunderland and offers a wide range of packaging options, won gold in the category for Flexo Print on Paper - Medium Web award. In the Flexo Print on Film - Wide Web category, it won the gold, silver and bronze, being recognised for its work with the companies Muller, Nestlé and Aunt Bessie’s.
The awards, held at The Vox Conference Centre, Birmingham, also saw Coveris, which provides packaging and coating products and is based in Lincolnshire, win six awards. These included a gold, silver and a bronze for the Flexo Print on Paper - Narrow Web prize. It won the gold for its Butcher’s Selection Venison Steak labels, produced for Asda.
Employee Alan Harding from Coveris was also named Student of the Year.
Coveris operations director Michael Marshall said, “We are honoured to have been presented with six awards by the EFIA. We consistently aim to raise standards through technical and personnel development, delivering expertise to produce quality flexographic print.”
TRM Packaging, based in Burscough, Lancashire, won three golds and five awards overall, including a gold in the Corrugated Post Print – Coated Process category for its Weetabix Breakfast Biscuits.
There were also victories for various divisions of DS Smith, including four awards for DS Smith Belper, Derbyshire, three of which were in the category for Flexo Print on Paper - Wide Web.
The EFIAs recognise excellence in flexographic printing across a number of disciplines. This year’s awards saw the introduction of a number of new categories, acknowledging print that has been transferred to the flexo process and the use of flexo in combination print.
