The Caldicot, Monmouthshire-based machinery and consumables supplier has launched the Platinum range of five LED-UV printers, varying in printable format size from 600x900mm up to 2.5x3m, and the Titanium portfolio of digital flatbed cutters, offering a selection of cutting format sizes from 400x600mm up to 3.5x2m.
The Platinum printers, which are modified versions of kit from Chinese manufacturer ALHC, use four or five Toshiba CE4M printheads with a self-adjusting printable height up to 100mm, imaging in a single pass on the multi-channel vacuum bed. They print in seven colours – CMYK, light cyan, light magenta and white with optional varnish for optimum flexibility.
The machines can print onto items including ceramics, wood, plastics, leather and phone covers at up to 14sqm/hr, with ink cost estimated at around 82p per square metre. The rotation capability enables the kit to image cylindrical items.
The Titanium cutters, OEM versions of machinery from Chinese manufacturer JWEI, feature automatic precision tool cutting depth, which IGS said enables the correct cutting depth to be achieved quickly, precisely and efficiently.
A registration camera is supplied as standard, which ensures printed jobs are cut accurately to register. The camera can recognise any type of mark on the printed material using a high-resolution camera mounted to the tool-head.
A range of speciality tools are supplied with each cutter, which enables the equipment to handle a wide variety of materials, such as corrugated, folding carton, solid board, foam, coating blankets, wood and various plastics.
IGS managing director Peter Flynn said: “We see a lot of printers who tell us that they sub out around 50% of their work to companies who can do the job cheaper than they can buy the ink and paper. So they’ve got to look for new revenues to stay in business, and machinery like this is perfect for them.”
Machines from the Platinum and Titanium ranges were handed their European show debuts at The Print Show last week at Birmingham’s NEC and all of the machines in both ranges are commercially available immediately.
Pricing for the Platinum printers starts from £25,000 for the 6090-UV model up to £57,750 for the 2530-UV model while the Titanium cutters start from £22,000, dependent on specification and cutting options required.
