HSP adds Think to its FSC stable

Howard Smith Paper has officially launched Think, its new range of uncoated papers, which is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified and contains recycled post consumer waste.

Think was first unveiled at Howard Smith Paper's Consort Royal Graphic Design and Print Awards, held in Dublin in May this year.

There are four products in the range, which covers paper and board: Think bright, a high white; Think warm, an ivory shade; Think white, which is natural; and Think solid, which is white with high bulk.

The range is produced by Scottish paper firm Tullis Russell, and is exclusive to Howard Smith. It is available in weights from 100-400gsm.

Marketing director Dave Cooling said the idea behind the range was to take the uncoated paper market forward. "These are four individual papers that work and perform well to new industry standards," he said.

The Think range has also passed strict testing for its press performance, which Cooling said would appeal to printers. "Print trials revealed Think reproduces intricate four colour work through to solids very well," he said.

Think was trialled prior to its launch at St Ives Westerham Press. "It performed exceptionally well for a sheet in its price range," said sales manager Lloyd Bromhead.

The range was officially launched on 14 July at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts in London, with a lecture by illustrator Paul Davis, whose book, "The Thinking of Paul Davis", has been produced on Think papers.
