Alon Bar-Shany, vice president and general manager, HP Indigo, said: "With more than 5,000 HP Indigo presses installed worldwide, these new SDKs help industry workflow and MIS technology providers reach progressive, quality-minded print service providers.
"Our customers, in turn, can benefit from a broader set of end-to-end production workflows as SDK-enabled solutions become commercially available."
The SDKs, which are available free at the HP Solutions Partner Portal, support JDF enabling better communication of job specification and status between HP Indigo presses and third-party pre-press and post-press workflow systems.
Once downloaded, the kits provide the tools, documentation and samples software developers need to establish JDF-based connectivity to HP Indigo presses.
Key features of the HP SmartStream SDKs include a Java-based software tool for creating customised JDF tickets; JDF, JMF and MIME ticket/package example files to show developers how to access HP Indigo print production features; and JDF MIME packaging tools to combine JDF job submission instructions, JDF ticket production data and job content into a single file.
