The investment comes off the back of "steady growth" at the company, which has grown 30% over the past four years to turnover currently approaching the £8m mark.
The eight-colour Scitex FB6100 is the company's second model within two years to be delivered to its primary print facility in Linkmel Close, Nottingham.
Capacity at the site has doubled with the new flatbed machine, which is being used for the production of retail point-of-sale applications, signage as well as posters and display graphics.
Lee Whiteman, sales director for John E Wright & Co, said: "By spending quarter of a million pounds on the new machine, we're already seeing a greater return on investment than if we opted for a lower specification, inexpensive model."
Whiteman said that the success of the business has been based on the machinery it has bought into. "You need to do the research and we've been vindicated by our investments," he added.
The FB6100, which can print onto a range of substrates that includes MDF, plastic, glass and metals, joins HP DesignJet Z6100 and Océ digital kit at the Linkmel site.
The company employs more than 100 staff across 10 UK sites that includes presence in Coventry, Hull and Leicester.
Tony Barnett, managing director of John E Wright & Co, said: "By doubling our production capacity, we are able to turn jobs around for our customers faster than ever."
