The Birmingham-based business installed a four-clamp Horizon BQ470 with EVA and PUR hotmelt binding options, as well as an HT30 robotic trimmer.
Managing director James Houston said: "When you are entrusted with complete cradle-to-grave responsibility for communications at this level, control is a very important issue.
"Because of its specialist nature, squareback book production was the last element we attempted to bring in-house."
"We now have the opportunity to build this side of the business. It also gives us more options in the bindery, for example we can take a 64-page product that we would have saddlestitched and put it on the perfect binder."
The BQ470 can bind books up to 65mm thick at up to 1,350cph. J&P’s machine will run alongside KBA and Akiyama litho presses and a Konica Minolta digital press.
Horizon adds finishing touch to J&P's bindery
Communications specialist Jones and Palmer (J&P) has completed its in-house fulfilment facility after purchasing a perfect binding and trimming unit from Intelligent Finishing Systems.
