The short-run specialist has added the Horizon BQ470 to an existing BQ270 binder, which will now become the company's secondary machine.
A HT30 single knife trimmer was also installed at the Southampton-based printer.
According to operations director Graham Bromley, the binder will give Hobbs additional capacity, as well as offering a stronger bind when the business handles digital books.
He added: "If we need fast turnaround the 270 is a hot melt machine so we can move to that, but the PUR is there for the stronger bind – we have everything covered."
The £10m-turnover company runs litho and digital presses and currently employs 190 staff.
