Heronswood invests 1m in Sakurai presses

Heronswood Press has invested almost 1m in two new presses from Sakurai.

The two five-colour Sakurai OL 566SD presses run at 16,000 sheets per hour and replace two Komori machines.

According to Nigel Room, owner of the Tunbridge Wells-based printer, part of the reason the company purchased the machines was their similarity to the Komori machines.

He said: “The Sakurai machines are very Komori-like. I liked the Komoris a lot and didn’t think I would find another machine like them but these are built in the same way.

“We did some print tests on the machines and they were extremely good. They also have a small footprint which is very helpful.”

Room added that the new machines have allowed the company to save time and money during print jobs.

“The pressure is on, we need to be more efficient and these machines allow us to cut down our make-ready times,” he explained.

Heronswood, which has an annual turnover of £1.5m and employs 14 staff, will use the machines to print general commercial work.

Room said: “We do work including leaflets, folders and stationery. So the machines have to be able to do all sorts of work. We are confident that they are capable of doing that.”
