The CSAT iTS 600, a drop-on-demand inkjet printing system, is on display at the exhibition, which takes place from today until Saturday. The full-colour printer is ideally suited to variable label printing and uses UV inks and prints paper, plastics, foils and composite materials at a resolution of 600dpi with multiple grey scales. It runs at a maximum speed of 48m/min.
Heidelberg’s acquisition of CSAT was part of its plans to expand its offering in the packaging sector.
Visitors to Labelexpo will also be able to see the Linoprint DriveLine B, which is being exhibited by Heidelberg’s partner company Gallus. The digital UV printer handles multicolour printing of sensitive substrates such as foils, composites and blister materials and offers both late-stage personalisation and even changes that affect the whole print image. It runs at a maximum speed of 24m/min.
Heidelberg’s head of packaging Daniel Dreyer said that drop-on-demand inkjet technology had gained significance in the packaging industry over recent years.
"Heidelberg was quick to invest in the development of this technology and has offered solutions in this market segment for some time now through Linoprint. The addition of CSAT printing systems enables us to widen our portfolio, continue the expansion of our digital print strategy, and strengthen our position first and foremost in high-quality print applications in the packaging and label sector."
