The four staff Heidelberg Graphic Equipment Ireland sales and service business will officially start trading in the new year.
The operation will be headed by Heidelberg UK head of sales Phil Buttress supported by local sales reps Declan Martin and Peter Smith on the ground.
According to Heidelberg, research suggests that post Covid and Brexit, the Irish market will bounce back quickly, citing a report from the country’s major employers lobby group, Ibec, which states that the Republic has been one of the best performing economies this year and is poised for growth of almost 6% in 2021.
“We are opening a new chapter in the success story of Heidelberg in Ireland. In its chosen markets our Irish business has shown continuous growth. This growth has been achieved by a highly customer-focused team providing a market-leading product and service offering,” said Heidelberg UK managing director Ryan Miles.
“By setting up this subsidiary, we intend to grow our Irish business further and to see it thrive as an integral part of the Heidelberg family.”
Heidelberg UK has been selling direct into Ireland since 2010, following the collapse of its former agent Millers. The company said it has around 250 customers in ROI and 130 in Northern Ireland.
The Irish operation will continue to have close support from the UK business, which recently began outsourcing its warehouse and spares operations to the Miniclipper Logistics facility in Bedfordshire.
