Hardship fund for those hit by B&T closure nearly fully allocated

The majority of the hardship fund set up by Butler, Tanner & Dennis and administered through the Printers' Charitable Corporation (PCC) has now been allocated.

A donation of £150,000 was made available by the book printer to the charitable corporation in October last year to help those affected by the closure of Butler and Tanner.

Just under 130 applications have been made to the PCC with £9,000 of the fund remaining to individuals that are eligible for grants up to £2,000.

Kevin Sarney, managing director at Butler, Tanner & Dennis, said: "We undertook this in partnership with the PCC to help mitigate the impact on the local community when Butler & Tanner went into receivership."

PCC chief executive Stephen Gilbert added: "We would like to remind everyone with a connection to the print trade that they may be eligible for assistance under our grants scheme."
