The 110ppm black-and-white cut-sheet printer was up and running at the beginning of the year, replacing a Xerox DocuTech 135. Although its a slower machine compared with 135ppm for the DocuTech, its much faster because of the increased up-time, said manager Charles Curtis.
Since it installed the iR110 Hanway has produced 600,000 copies. Last year the company invested in increased colour capacity from Canon, installing one of the first CLC 5000 50ppm colour printers and a BJ-W9000 wide-format ink-jet printer.
We looked at the Xerox DocuColor 2060, but the machine was out of our reach and we got a deal with Canon because we already had two CLC 800s and a CLC 1000, he said. Large-format printing was not expensive to buy and is making us some new business, the quality is superb.
Hanway does a range of short-run fast turnaround print for firms in North London. It also does digital work for sister offset print firm C&L Print of Wembley.
