Hampshire Flag Company’s managing director Graham Wilkinson said businsses must adapt and invest in new technology and that he expected a high return on investment.
"The new Zund G3 XL-3200 will help us keep on delivering excellent service to our customers in this competitive marketplace," he said. "We are able to provide more complex items that we simply couldn’t have delivered before the installation and our production times on simple tasks have fallen dramatically."
Wilkinson said the company had looked at competitor machines but, after thorough testing, the Zund G3 XL-3200 stood out as "robust and adaptable".
The Zund UK team managed the installation and training for the new machine, including optimising it for the production needs and tasks involved in flag manufacturing. Wilkinson described Zund’s service as "exceptional".
He said the new machine had freed up the bottleneck the company was experiencing in its finishing department and allowed the Hampshire Flag Company to take on more work without having to increase its staff.
"We have calculated that we would need to employ three more members of staff to cut textiles to replace the Zund machine when it is operating at maximum output," he added.
Compared to the company’s previous hand-guided machine, the Zund G3 XL-3200 can produce intricate finishes more accurately, meaning there is less wastage, Wilkinson said.
He added that products produced using the "cold cut" technique, a slow and complex process when carried out by hand, can now be completed in seconds.
