The GPMU will meet with the management teams of McCorquodale Confidential Print and sister company Fencourt Printers today over planned redundancies.
A source close to McCorquodale Confidential said there could be up to 19 redundancies, a 10% cut in wages, limited overtime and reduced pension contributions. It is believed that two-thirds of the redundancies would be from from McCorquodale Confidential.
GPMU national officer Ann Field said: "We are faced with a very serious situation. We have a meeting with the company this week, so it is inappropriate to comment further. We're supporting our members."
McCorquodale Confidential managing director Neil Jolley declined to comment as PrintWeek went to press.
In August 1997, Rexam sold McCorquodale Confidential for 2.1m to a management-led team.
In 1999, McCorquodale acquired Fencourt Printers, based in Littlehampton.
In 1999 McCorquodale Confidential recorded a turnover of 8.42m and a pre-tax profit of 198,620. In 1998 Fencourt Printers had a turnover of 4.5m and a pre-tax profit of 744,464.
