The GPMU is to ballot members on industrial action following 56 redundancies at Polestar East Kilbride (PrintWeek, 29 June).
We were always under the impression that the two presses would go, but we were told another press would replace them, said GPMU Scottish secretary David Munro.
Munro, who expressed his frustration at not being able to meet earlier with decision makers, said a meeting had been scheduled for yesterday (5 July) with managing director David Donaldson and human resources director David Crowe.
But Munro was sympathetic to the plight of fellow East Kilbride firm Thomson Litho, where an agreement has been reached over 40 redundancies after the loss of work from Compaq.
